The Wedding Fair | Tips for Attending the Show - Edmonton

Edmonton's Ultimate Wedding Planning Event

With the euphoria of your engagement also comes pressure to start the planning process towards your wedding day! And one of the best ways to begin the planning process is by attending The Wedding Fair!

In addition to finding creative inspiration from all the impressive displays, you’ll have the opportunity to meet local wedding professionals face-to-face.

It’s a great opportunity to ask questions and learn more about them and what they offer. In essence, attending The Wedding Fair is a great way to accumulate a massive amount of information in a very efficient amount of time.

  • Dress Comfortably
First and foremost, wear your most comfortable shoes as you’ll spend much of the day on your feet.
  • Create an email address for your wedding planning.
If you create an email address specifically for your wedding planning, you can use it when signing up for contests and connecting with your wedding vendors. Plus, it helps keep all your wedding planning information in one account. After your wedding, you can unsubscribe from these emails or delete the account.
  • Bring A Friend (Or two!)
Bring your fiancé, friends, and family members to join you. Make it a fun day out.
  • Do Your Homework Before You Go
Visit our show directory and check out the exhibitor's list By looking at the exhibitors’ websites and Instagram feeds ahead of time, you can determine who you’d like to visit at the show.
  • Know The Basic Details of Your Wedding
In addition to your wedding date, it is helpful to know – or have rough ideas of – the size of your wedding party, the number of guests you are anticipating, the venue type (or at least the geographic location you are considering), and your overall theme.
  • Bring A List of Questions To Ask
The point of The Wedding Fair is to get a feel for the personality of each professional you speak with. So ask them your hardest-hitting questions. The best of the best will be there to help you; they understand you are under no obligation to book or buy. Get to know them and find the right fit for you!
  • Take Notes & Photos
A bride recently told us she brought a packet of coloured sticky notes with her to flag all the promotional materials according to a simple system (say green for those vendors you want to follow up with first, yellow for maybe, etc.) This way, when she returned home at the end of the day with a bag filled with helpful information, she knew where to start.
  • Enter Giveaways
Make sure to enter, and even if you don’t win, most companies will still offer you an exclusive discount or coupon for entering. By having pre-printed labels with your name, wedding date and contact info, you can enter quickly.
  • Make Social Media Connections
If you’re really interested, ask to connect with that wedding pro on Facebook or Instagram while at their booth. It’s a great way to learn more and have it digitally.
  • Don’t Procrastinate
It’s highly likely the vendors you’re interested in will also be talking to other brides and grooms with the same wedding date as you. Don’t wait too long after the show to communicate! If a wedding professional has really piqued your interest, ask for their email or phone number and send them a quick message right then and there. Trust me, they’ll make you a priority!

Most importantly of all, have fun!

Enjoy the cake and dessert samples! Hop in all the photo booths and take silly photos with your fiancé and friends! Extend the joy and excitement of your wedding day by enjoying the wedding planning process. Just like an engagement party, bridal shower, or bachelor party – attending The Wedding Fair is one more fun experience leading up to your big day!
